Beacon is a minimalist, distraction-free Chrome extension designed for deep reading, research, and long-form study. It allows users to highlight selected text on any webpage and generates corresponding color markers on the right edge of the viewport. By clicking these markers, users can instantly jump back to the exact location of the original text.

2. Data Collection & Usage (Privacy Policy)

We take privacy seriously. Beacon is built on a zero data collection principle:

• Local Storage: All annotation data (including highlighted text, webpage URLs, and titles) is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage.
• No Servers: We do not operate any backend servers. Your data never leaves your device.
• No Tracking: The extension contains no analytics tools, trackers, or third-party advertising scripts.
• Permissions Disclosure: We request storage permission to save your markers, and scripting and activeTab permissions to render the markers on the page. All operations are performed locally.
